Group Fun with the DiamondDawgs All Summer Long!!!

Are you interested in having an impact on a young man’s life, possibly his professional career? Do you love baseball?

You may be perfect as a DiamondDawgs host family!

During the Summer 2010, approximately 25 young men will move to the Mohawk Valley for the summer to play for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. From approximately June 1st through August 8th, these young, aspiring ballplayers hone their baseball skills by playing 42 games in 51 days. Players come from all over the United States to participate in the New York Collegiate Baseball League and be a part of the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs baseball team

Having the players become a part of a local family helps these young men have some sense of normalcy in a strange new city. Many of the players become more than a guest, they actually become part of the family.

Gerlach to Lead DiamondDawgs in 2010

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs would like announce the hiring of Troy Gerlach as Field Manager for the 2010 season. Troy comes to Mohawk Valley after serving as the hitting coach during the 2009 season for the NYCBL Champions, Amsterdam Mohawks. Amsterdam finished ranked 13th in the country with a 32-12 record. They led the league in homeruns (29) and team batting average of .290. The .290 average also led all wood bat leagues through out the country. “I would like to thank Travis and Dave for the opportunity to coach the Diamond Dawgs. I spent last summer in Amsterdam and played in Mohawk Valley a number of times and was very impressed with how the team was ran and the support of the community. I look forward to getting to know the community and representing Mohawk Valley on the field.”
