This year’s Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs will feature some homegrown talent when their New York Collegiate Baseball League (NCBL) season begins next month.
General manager Travis Heiser recently received commitments from Cortland State outfielder Jason Simone, of Utica; Mohawk Valley Community College outfielder Kyle Richardson, of Rome; and Chipola (Fla.) Junior College pitcher Garrett Baker, of Rome.

The DiamondDawgs will kick off their season with a bang on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 7:00pm against the Oneonta Outlaws with a HUGE Fireworks Spectacular sponsored by the Herkimer Diamond Mines. Cortland junior outfielder Jason Simone (Utica/Thomas R. Proctor) has been chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 21.
