Cullen Wacker: Burrows Paper Player of the Week

This weeks Burrows player of the week is Cullen Wacker from Auburn University

Wacker stole the show at the inaugural PGCBL All-Star game in Elmira, NY.. After winning the Pre-game home run derby at Dunn Field, Wacker capped a three-hit performance with a game-winning three-run homer in the inaugural Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.

Prior to hitting his three run game winning home run Wacker lost his bat while fouling off a pitch and had to retrieve it from a fan who wanted to keep it for a souvenir. The fan ended of giving the bat back which set the stage for a script for the movies.

The fan that returned the bat ended of with a more memorable souvenir…..The first pitch to Wacker saw after he got his bat back he hit a towering 3 run game winning HR. Without hesitation after he crossed home plate Wacker returned the bat to the fan for a perfect ending to the perfect All-Star game for Wacker who received a standing ovation.

Wacker has worked the DiamondDawgs the baseball camp and can always be seen helping out his teammates.

Congratulations to Cullen Wacker (Auburn University) for being this weeks winner of the Burrows Paper Corporation Player of the Week.

PGCBL: DiamondDawg Wacker leads East to All-Star victory

The Little Falls Times
ELMIRA, N.Y. — Cullen Wacker has not had many opportunities to show off his home run trot this summer but the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs’ left fielder from Auburn University put on quite a power display Monday evening in Elmira.

After winning the pregame home run derby at Dunn Field, Wacker capped a three-hit performance with a game-winning three-run homer in the inaugural Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.

Wacker’s home run gave the East Division a 7-4 win against the West.

Five Dawgs to represent Mohawk Valley at PGCBL Inaugural All Star Game:

The Mohawk Valley Diamonddawgs will be represented on July 18th by Outfielder Cullen Wacker (Auburn), Infielder David Soltis (Bryant University) and Pitchers Selby Brummett (Paradise Valley), Willie Gabay (HCCC), and Tyler Kane (Washington). The game will take place in Elmira and will pit the Eastern division, consisting of Mohawk Valley, Amsterdam, Glens Falls, and Albany against the Western division being rounded out by Cooperstown, Newark, Watertown, and Elmira.

Burrows Paper Company Player of the Week:Tyler Kane

Freshman Pitcher Tyler Kane, whose talents were called upon more for the Washington Huskies than any other Pitcher this past spring as he led his team in appearances, has picked up where he left off this summer in the PGCBL. Kane, who couples an above average change-up with an electric fastball, has struck out 13 batters in as many innings pitched. His microscopic 0.69 Earned Run Average in 8 appearances had secured him a role as the Dawgs’ setup man until recently, when he showed Head Coach Troy Gerlach that he could step into the rotation to take the mound from start to finish.
