Thank You Host Families!!!

Players are housed by families in the Mohawk Valley Area. Local housing allows the athletes to become a part of our community while they play here during the summer season.

The DiamondDawg Baseball Team would not be the success it has become without the help of the Host Families, who open their homes to the players every summer. To the 2011 families, the DiamondDawgs say ‘Thank you”

If you would be interested in becoming a Host Family for 2012, contact Travis Heiser at 315-985-0692 or via email at travis@mydiamonddawgs.com

2010 DiamondDawgs Enjoying Success in Pro Ball

Little Falls Times:

Two other 2011 draftees signed earlier this summer and have begun their professional careers. Ryan Kemp, a two-way player at St. Joseph’s University, and Liberty University’s Garrett Baker are both currently pitching in the Pioneer League.

Kemp played first base and the outfield more than he pitched in Little Falls in 2010 but was drafted in the 14th round as a pitcher. He has 2-1 record in 11 appearances out of the bullpen in Billings, Mont., with a 3.14 ERA, 15 strikeouts and seven walks in 14 1/3 innings. He picked up a win and did not allow an earned run in two appearances in the Arizona League before reporting to Cincinnati Reds’ affiliate in Billings.

Baker has been reunited with fellow Roman and former DiamondDawgs teammate Joe Melioris in Orem, Utah. The 11th-round selection has thrown 24 2/3 innings in 13 relief appearances and has won each of his three decisions. He has a 6.57 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 10 walks.

Melioris signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as a free agent after going undrafted in 2010. He is 3-2 with Orem’s Owls having started six games and relieved in six others. His ERA stands at 8.74, having allowed 35 runs, 34 of them earned, in 35 innings with 29 strikeouts and nine walks.

PGCBL: Former DiamondDawg Mason opts not to sign with Rangers

Major League Baseball’s signing deadline for 2011 draft picks passed as the calendar turned from Monday into Tuesday and a pair of players tied to the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs remain amateurs.

Mike Mason, a left-handed pitcher from Marshall University who spent the summer of 2009 in Little Falls, and Mikey Reynolds, who had been scheduled to suit up for the DiamondDawgs, did not come to terms with their drafting teams.
