DiamondDawgs fight back for win over Pioneers

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs overcame a 6-2 deficit to scratch out a win against the Elmira Pioneers 8-6 in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest tonight.

The DiamondDawgs were led offensively by David DelGrande (Sacramento State University) who went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Mark Stuckey (Marist College) who went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three runs scored, and Tyler Hall (Herkimer County Community College) who scored two runs. Adding to the comeback were Jack Morrow (Young Harris College) who smashed a pinch-hit, two-run double, and Chris Cruz (Cornell University) who launched a deep home run to right field the secured the win for the third hurler of the night Taylor Wright (Brown University). Wright tossed two scoreless innings and struck out three. Salvatore Lisanti (Bryant University) struck out two in a scoreless ninth and notched his third save.

Elmira starter Carson Bryant (Chattanooga State CC) went 5 2/3 and gave up six hits, four runs (one earned) and struck out two as he did not figure in the decision. Reliever Mathew Goreham (Northeastern University) added an inning in relief and gave up three hits, three earned runs and walked one while being tagged with his first loss of the year. The Pioneers’ Corey Hamula (Sullivan County CC) went 3 for 5 with two runs scored, Steven Patterson (San Jacinto Delta College) doubled in one and scored two, and Spencer Brann went 1 for 5 with three RBI.

The game, which took nearly 3 ½ hours to complete, featured 11 stolen bases and 14 walks total.

The DiamondDawgs return home to Veterans Memorial Park on Sunday, June 24, 2012 for a 5:05pm contest against the Watertown Wizards.

Ladies Breast Cancer Awareness “Pink Game”
sponsored by Little Falls Hospital and Bassett Healthcare.

The DiamondDawgs will be wearing pink jerseys for this game and at the end of the game the jerseys will be autographed and sold with 100 percent of the proceeds going to KC Smith Scholarship Fund. The DiamondDawgs will also be using pink bats which will be raffled off at the end of the game to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. Bassett Healthcare will also be on hand with their Mammogram traveling screening center to give FREE Mammograms to those who qualify. It will be Free Admission for ALL Ladies as well as guys who wear a pink shirt.

Yep, it’s Thursday. Do you know what that means? The DiamondDawgsare having a their first famous THIRSTY THURSDAY promotion of the season on June 21 with $2 Beers and $1 bottles of water. Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs rally falls short in the 9th to Champs Newark Pilots

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs welcomed the inaugural Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) champions Newark Pilots to Veteran’s Memorial Park Monday night for the second meeting of the season. The first meeting in Newark resulted in a 19-6 romp by the Pilots. The DiamondDawgs sought to return the favor in front of its home crowd looking to move closer to a .500 record (3-5) while the Pilots sought to keep up with the league leaders at 5-3.

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs routed the visiting Albany Dutchmen in front of 1126 screaming fans at Veterans Memorial Park in Little Falls in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest.

Little Falls native Evan Davis pitches a gem and picks up a win for DiamondDawgs

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs picked up a win Thursday afternoon against the New Rochelle Athletics beating them 7-1. The exhibition game was a 10:30 am start and was played in front of over 1,500 students as it was a field trip game for area schools. Schools in attendance included Canajoharie, Dolgeville, Frankfort, Herkimer-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES, Little Falls, Mohawk, St. Johnsville and West Canada.

The game featured police cars and fire trucks as they escorted the team mascot, Dollar Dawg and Fidelisaurus, the mascot of game sponsor Fidelis Care. In what is becoming a tradition for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs the team transforms Veteran’s Memorial Park into a child’s field trip dream with contest, prizes and activities throughout the afternoon. As an extra bonus – a baseball game was played!

The DiamondDawgs will have a home game tonight at Veterans Memorial Park in Little Falls gainst the Albany Dutchman.There will also be free Ice cream give-a-way to the first 250 kids at the gate courtsey of Kenickies.

The DiamondDawgs along with the City of Little Falls and Mayor Bob Peters will also be honoring this year’s Little Falls Mounties Girls Varsity Basketball team with proclamations for their great season and sectional title.

Because you participated in the Hunger Coalition’s March Food Drive, you and your parents are invited to be the guests of the Little Falls Diamond Dawgs baseball team at this Friday’s (15th) game. Just tell the ticket taker what school you’re from when entering. You’ll be introduced on the field before the game which begins at 7:05 PM. The Coalition wants to thank Travis Heiser, President-GM, for making this year’s team charity-“Strike Out Hunger”. Every strike out registered by the Dawgs’ pitchers will generate one dollar (worth c. $8 in food) at the Food Bank of Central N.Y. to be divided among county pantries. This year’s March Food Drive collected several thousand dollars worth of food for the latter.

Cooperstown Hawkeyes score three runs in the 9th to beat Mohawk Valley

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs were back at home Monday night to face off against the Cooperstown Hawkeyes. The Dawgs were looking to make it two wins in a row after beating the Albany Dutchman 3-2 Sunday night while Cooperstown was looking for its own win hoping to snap a two game losing streak.
