Dawgs Pound Dutchmen

Winning pitcher Joe Michaud (Bryant University) hurled five strong innings giving up five hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out six.  The Dawgs were led offensively by designated hitter Eric Helmrich (Marist College) who smashed a three-run home run in the fourth inning to secure the Dawgs’ win.  First baseman Jack Morrow (Young Harris) added another two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, right fielder Chris Cruz (Cornell) scored two runs and knocked one in, and third baseman Jesse Burratt (Baton Rouge CC) poked a double.

The Dutchmen starter, Andrew Furber (Gloucester CC), lost the contest by giving up seven earned runs to the Dawgs over his five innings and walking three while striking out five.  Right fielder Jack Wietlispach (Parkland College) led the Dutchmen with two hits, one a double, and a stolen base.  Catcher Will Remillard (Coastal Carolina) knocked in Albany’s only run.
