DiamondDawgs Win 2011 Season Opener

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs opened up the 2011 season with a bang at Veterans Memorial Park Thursday, beating Glens Falls 8-4. The Dawgs scored five runs in the third inning to pace the win.

Holbrook Earns New England Baseball Association (NEIBA) all-region accolades
2011 DiamondDawg Frank Holbrook headlines Wheaton’s starting rotation, as his seven wins are one shy of tying a program record. He is 7-0 with a 2.18 earned run average, two complete games, one shutout and 26 strikeouts in 53.2 innings. He holds opposing hitters to a .245 average. Giving up one earned run or less in six of his starts, Holbrook picked up his first collegiate wins after recovering from injury prior to the start of his freshman season.
THREE DIAMONDDAWGS EARN REGION I ACCOLADES
Three Paradise Valley CC Baseball players and 2011 DiamondDawgs have earned 2011 NJCAA Region I accolades.
Freshman infielder, Mike Reynolds was named to the 1st Team All-Conference as well as the 1st Team All-Region. Sophomore pitcher, Brian King was named to the 2nd Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region, and was a nominee for a Region I ‘Gold Glove. Sophomore, Harlyn Griffiths joined was also named 2nd Team All-Region.
