2012 DiamondDawg Chris Cruz is off to HOT START!!!

This past weekend 2012 DiamondDawg Chris Cruz led the Cornell University Baseball Team to its first 4-0 start since 1981. Cruz is hitting 471 on the early season with 8 hits including; 2 homeruns, 2 doubles. He also has 4 RBI and has scored six runs. Cruz and the Cornell Baseball Team will hope to keep their winning ways going this weakened as they face George Washington University.

Former Red Sox Intern Hired as New Assistant GM/Director of Groups for DiamondDawgs

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs announced today the hiring of Little Falls native Katie Robarge as the club’s Assistant General Manager and Director of Groups.

A native of Little Falls, Robarge joins the DiamondDawgs following a successful internship last summer with the Salem Red Sox, the Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. She currently lives in Salem, Virginia and works at Virginia Tech University as a concession supervisor.

“I would like to thank Travis Heiser and Dave Dittmann for the opportunity to work for my hometown team; and I am looking forward to expanding the positive influence that baseball has had and will continue to have on my community.” Robarge said.

“From the first time Katie and I spoke, she displayed a passion for the game of baseball and her hometown,” DiamondDawgs President Travis Heiser said. “With her past experience in minor league baseball she understands how much work it takes to run a successful operation, there is no question that she will help us continue to grow as an organization”.

The DiamondDawgs are a member of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League a wood bat league in upstate New York. Nine PGCBL teams play a 48-game schedule in June and July. The league is affiliated with Perfect Game USA, the largest independent scouting service in the United States

DIAMONDDAWGS TO INDUCT LOCAL LEGEND CHARLES “BOOTS” DAY INTO THE MOHAWK VALLEY DIAMONDDAWGS HALL OF FAME; FORMER MAJOR LEAGUE STAR TOMMY JOHN TO GIVE KEYNOTE ADDRESS AND MAJOR DIAMONDDAWGS ANNOUNCEMENT TO BE MADE.

The 4th Annual Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs Hall of Fame Hot Stove Dinner will be held Saturday, February 11, 2012. This year’s Inductee will be former Major Leaguer Charles “Boots” Day, an Ilion native. “We are delighted to induct and honor Boots Day,” said DiamondDawgs President & General Manager Travis Heiser. “Boots is a legend in the Mohawk Valley, and his 45-plus years in professional baseball are testament to his sheer worthiness for this honor.”

Little Falls, NY – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs will have a new face at the helm for the 2012 season. Former professional baseball player Roberto Vaz has been named Head Baseball Coach.
