Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University junior first baseman/outfielder Rob Weissheier has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office.
Weissheier batted .357 (5-14) with two doubles, two home runs, four runs scored, and six RBIs in Hofstra’s 4-0 week. He hit the game-winning, walk-off three-run homer with two outs on Sunday to give the Pride a three-game sweep of UNCW. The Valley Stream, New York, native also went 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs in Saturday’s win over the Seahawks. Earlier in the week he had a pinch-hit double in a win at Rutgers.
On the season, Weissheier is batting .278 with seven doubles, three triples, four home runs and 19 RBIs.
