PGCBL (6/30) – Pioneers Top Dawgs 8-6

On a gorgeous Thursday evening, weather perfect for baseball, the Pioneers hit two home runs, one by Justin Lamborn and the other by Justin Lacy.  The top hitters for the Pioneer squad included Ryan Normoyle who went 3 for 4, Lamborn and Lacy.  The Pioneers exploded for 5 runs in the 7th inning to secure the win for relief pitcher Jimmy Reed.  The starter, Matt Niedzwiecki went five-plus and was bailed out by Reed and John Koch who was lights out in his two innings of relief striking out four and earning a save.

The Dawgs led until 7th inning, and Logan Carman was solid for six of those innings.  Carman struck out 7, gave up 6 hits and 3 earned runs.  After the two homers in the fourth, Carman kept the lead but tired in the 6th.  The Dawgs’ six relievers gave up five runs on four errors and wasted two sides being struck out by Alex Lester in the 6th and Willie Gabay in the 9th.

Top hitters for the Dawgs were Tyler Townsend who reached base in all four plate appearances and went 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored, Dave Soltis who went 2 for 5 with a double and 3 RBI, and Jake Saylor who went 1 for 4 with an RBI and Run scored.  D.J. Hoagboon added a double.

 The DiamondDawgs are home again Friday Night hosting Glens Falls.
