Stover, Collett, Hawk, Sullivan and pitchers Lewicki, Godlewski and Petrella headed to PGCBL All-Star Game

Little Falls, NY – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce that eight members of the team have been selected as All-Stars and will represent the “Mohawk Valley’s Team” at the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) All-Star Game at Dunn Field in Elmira, New York on Tuesday, July 15.

The DiamondDawg’s 2014 PGCBL All-Stars include second baseman Trey Stover (Hartford), first/third baseman Zach Collett (New Haven), shortstop Colin Hawk (Cincinnati) and outfielder/first baseman Jayson Sullivan (Sacred Heart). In addition, right-handed pitchers Ed Lewicki (Siena), Lucas Godlewski (Herkimer) and Nick Petrella (Skidmore) will round out the Eastern PGCBL All-Star rotation.

Trey Stover (Hartford) has led the DiamondDawg’s through the first half of the season with a team leading .330 batting average, team leader in hits (31) and is tied in runs scored with 17. Meanwhile, Zach Collett (New Haven) is batting .329 and has belted a team leading five homeruns and leads the team in slugging percentage (.549), on-base percentage (.440), runs batted in (19), doubles (6) and total bases (45). Shortstop Colin Hawk (Cincinnati) makes the all-star game batting a solid .293 with 8 runs scored, 22 hits, 5 doubles, a homerun, 17 RBI and 6 stolen bases. While outfielder/first baseman Jayson Sullivan (Sacred Heart) has contributed with a robust .314 batting average, 14 runs scored, 22 hits, 5 doubles, a triple, 4 RBI and 8 swiped bases.

The representatives from the pitching rotation includes three dominant right-handed hurlers whose combined record is 8-0. Nick Petrella (Skidmore) boasts a 2.25 ERA and a perfect 4-0 record and a team leading 24 strikeouts. Little Falls native and Herkimer College star Lucas Godlewski (Herkimer) brings his slim 2.18 ERA and 3-0 record to the All-Star game along with his 18 strikeouts. Rounding out the rotation is Ed Lewicki (Siena) whose 2.66 ERA and 1-0 record and 18 strikeouts showcases the dominant young arms assembled and on display at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Little Falls this summer.

Zach Collett (New Haven) will also be featured in the PGCBL homerun derby. The right-handed slugger from Westbrook, Maine will show off his power that has already resulted in five home-runs this summer in collegiate summer ball adding to the four he collected in the spring with his collegiate team, the New Haven Chargers.

The 2014 PGCBL will be held on Tuesday July 15, 2014 at Dunn Field, home of the Elmira Pioneers.
