Simone transferred to Division-II powerhouse Mount Olive for the 2011 season after three successful campaigns at SUNY Cortland. Simone was a two-time SUNYAC Player of the Year for the Red Dragons and he helped the team to the 2010 NCAA Division III national championship game against Illinois Wesleyan.

The Utica, N.Y., native appeared in 27 regular season games for Mount Olive. He hit .409, swatted four home runs, collected 29 RBI and struck out only four times in 110 at-bats. He topped the Trojans with 16 doubles and sat 11th in the nation in doubles prior to the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament. Simone also entered the league’s postseason tournament with the third highest batting average in the loop.

The senior was one of four Mount Olive players chosen to the all-tournament team. In four playoff games, Simone batted .556 (10-for-18) with a home run, five RBI, three doubles and an .889 slugging percentage.

Last summer, Jason Simone won the New York Collegiate Baseball League batting championship as a member of the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He batted a league-best .372 over 34 games. Simone totaled 54 hits, 24 runs scored, 17 runs batted in and 17 stolen bases as Mohawk Valley’s lead-off hitter. The speedy outfielder only struck out five times in 145 at-bats. Following the season, Simone was named All-NYCBL first team.
