Scocca and Coddou Name PGCBL Player and Pitcher of the Week

The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League has announced that Troy Scocca (Mohawk Valley) and two pitchers have received the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for the week covering June 8 to June 14.

Scocca, who attends Fairfield University, went 11-for-22 on the week for a batting average of .500. Scocca added four RBIs, two triples and two walks on the week. He did not strike out during the week and also stole two bases.

So far this summer, Scocca is hitting .469, which is the third-highest average in the PGCBL. His .548 on-base percentage is the fourth-highest in the league and his 12.41 Runs Created trail only Christian Santisteban (last week’s Player of the Week) for the league lead.

Scocca appeared in 40 games at Fairfield this year, starting 27 of thos games. He hit .262 with a .333 on-base percentage. He did not make an error all season.

Scocca wasn’t the only DiamondDawg to win a weekly award this week. Payton Coddou has been named co-pitcher of the week.

Coddou, who attends the University of Louisiana-Monroe, tossed seven scoreless innings on Sunday, allowing just two hits in a 10-0 win over Albany. Coddou walked two batters in the start and struck out four Dutchmen. Coddou has a 5.00 ERA on the season in two starts. At ULM, he appeared in 11 games with four starts. In the 11 appearances, Coddou went 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA.
