NEWARK, N.Y. – Friday night’s Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League home opener at Colburn Park between the Newark Pilots and the visiting Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs was suspended due to inclement weather.

The game will resume in the top of the fourth inning with the DiamondDawgs leading 6-0 on Monday, July 6 at 5:05 p.m., as part of a non-traditional doubleheader. Following the completion of the suspended game, the two teams will play the regularly-scheduled nine-inning contest.

The two teams played three complete innings in front of 1,820 fans.

Mohawk Valley tattooed Newark starter Daniel Imbro (Hendrix) for six runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Troy Scocca (Fairfield). All nine batters came to the plate in the opening frame and the DiamondDawgs collected six hits in the inning. Marcus Failing (Herkimer C.C.) gave up only one hit – a single to Mark Martin (Le Moyne) in the second inning – in addition to a pair of walks.

Newark’s Cameron Hoos (DeSales) came on to relieve Imbro after 1.1 innings of work. The 6-7 reliever allowed one hit in 1.2 innings.

The Pilots will travel to Elmira to begin a home-and-home series tomorrow, Saturday, June 6 at 7:05 p.m. The two teams return to Colburn Park to complete the two-game set on Sunday, June 7 with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
