June 19th – Mohawks out-hit Dawgs at Vets Park

Starting pitcher Dustin Stanton, a member of the Dawgs 2010 roster and starter at Southern Maine University gave up a run in the first and also surrendered a two run homer a few innings later and was saddled with the loss, as the Dawgs fell to their rival Mohawks by a score of 7-1. Sunday marked the first time the two teams have met this Summer, as the Mohawks were rained out against the Dawgs on Friday. Dawgs second baseman Mike Fasola contributed a triple in the game, but was thrown out attempting to take home on the relay to squelch the Dawgs’ rally, and the Dawgs couldn’t matchup against the Mohawk’s lineup. Mohawk Valley is off on Monday before taking the field on Tuesday against the Watertown Wizards. The Dawgs will look to bounce back and improve on their 4-3 record, while Amsterdam travels to Dunn Field in Elmira on Tuesday, before returning to Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam on Friday to take on the division leading Glens Falls Golden Eagles.
