Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs sign 1st baseman from Canisius

Little Falls, New York – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are proud to announce the signing of infielder Ryan Stekl from Lancaster, New York for the 2015 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) season.

Stekl was a standout in the Western New York baseball scene while leading his Lancaster High School Baseball team to sectional championships in both his sophomore and senior seasons and a second place finish in 2013.  As Lancaster’s top pitcher and clutch third baseman Stekl batted a robust .527 as a sophomore and then .486 during his senior year when he hit 8 homeruns. Stekl also dominated on the pitching front striking out 108 batters setting the Lancaster High School record.  Stekl was selected to the 1st team All-Western New York in both his sophomore and senior seasons, 1st team All – ECIC as a sophomore, junior and senior and 3rd team All-New York State in his junior and senior seasons.  Academically, Stekl was selected 1st team All- Western New York Scholar Athlete and was a member of the National Honor Society as a junior and senior.

Stekl is currently a freshman for the  Canisius Golden Griffins . He his expected to be a impact player this year for the Griffins as well one of the best freshman players in the conference. He is projected to start at first base and hit in the middle of a very good Canisius lineup.
