Little Falls, New York – The 2015 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) Champions Mohawk Valley Diamond are pleased to announce that Assistant Coach Steve Luby will be returning to Little Falls for a second stint alongside head coach Blake Nation. Coach Luby was instrumental in leading the 2015 Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs to its first PGCBL title and amassing a franchise best 32-18 record.

Having adding a PGCBL title to his already impressive resume last year Coach Luby brings 28 years of baseball coaching experience to the diamond. Luby is currently entering his fifth season as an assistant baseball coach with the Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) Chukars and has coached three years previously at Western Baptist College (Corban College) as the infield and catching coach and has also coached at the high school level for 20 years.

“I’m very excited and honored to be returning to Little Falls and the DiamondDawgs! To be a part of Travis and his first class organization, to coach and work with such a quality man as Blake, and to have such wonderful people like Jim and Kathy (host family) making me feel at home, I can’t wait to return! June and the start of another Diamond Dawg season can’t arrive soon enough!”

“We are very fortunate to be able to bring Coach Luby back to the Mohawk Valley for the 2016 season. Not n more only was I impressed with Coach Luby’s experience and knowledge of the game but I was even more impressed by his work ethic – it was something that certainly rubbed off on our players. Coach Luby is the definition of what we here at the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs strive for – passionate, hard working and above all a great person. Coach left a lasting impression with our organization, players and fans whom he interacted with last year – we are excited to have him back as we defend our PCGBL title this summer.”

Coach Luby has many accolades in his 28 plus years in coaching including being named State Baseball Coach of the Year in 1991, five time winner of Conference Coach of the Year, and winning a State Championship during his tenure. Prior to entering coaching, Coach Luby excelled as an athlete being named All-State in Football and Baseball at Marist H.S. in Eugene, Oregon. At the collegiate level, Coach Luby played 2B his freshman year at Oregon

State University and spent his sophomore year at Eastern Oregon State College where he was an All-Conference Outfielder, and transferred his junior year to Western Oregon State College where he was an All-Conference Infielder. Injuries cut his baseball playing days short and thus Coach received a degree in Law Enforcement and then Education and has taught speed and strength training for 25 years at the high school level.

Coach Luby has two children: a son Tyler and a daughter Danielle.
