Maynard Blask inducted into Mohawk Valley Hall Of Fame

Maynard Blask became coach Blask upon graduation from Ithaca College, where he participated in basketball and baseball.  Coach Blask was a teacher and coach for 38 years. He taught and coached at West Canada, Little Falls and Herkimer. While at Herkimer Central School Coach Blask won several league titles, two section III championships, one intersectional title in 1987, culminating with being the first Herkimer team to participate in the State’s Final Four at Veteran’s field in Little Falls.

In 1980 Blask served as General Manager of the Little Falls Mets.  J.P. Riccardi and Billy Beane began their careers on that team.  J.P. went on to become general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Billy Beane to this day is the general manager of the Oakland Athletics.

He currently resides in the City of Little Falls, and is still active within the community as well as Veteran’s Memorial Park and continues to urge everyone’s support for baseball in the Mohawk Valley.
