GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Neil Fryer (Siena) threw a three-hit shutout over five innings and Anthony Pisani (So. Maine) sparked a two-run outburst in the fifth as the Golden Eagles handed the DiamondDawgs their first loss of the season. The win also tied Glens Falls and Mohawk Valley for first place in the PGCBL East. Fryer retired the first seven batters he faced and never let a Mohawk Valley runner advance safely past second base. The Greenwich, N.Y., native struck out seven including for the first six batters he faced. Glens Falls tallied an unearned score in the first but it was Pisani that created breathing room in the fifth. The Golden Eagle shortstop smashed a two-out RBI double and then scored on a Roger Bernal (UTPA) RBI single. Tyler Townsend (Kentucky) rallied the Dawgs in the sixth with a run-scoring single but Glens Falls reliever Kevin Cowan (UAlbany) pitched out of a bases-loaded jam to end the offensive outburst. Cowan and David Olson (Tacoma CC) combined to pitch four scoreless innings of relief. Ricky Claudio (St. Thomas, Fla.) led the Golden Eagles with two hits, Anthony Pisani and Roger Bernal each went 1-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Mohawk Valley’s Dustin Stanton (So. Maine) turned in a complete game effort in defeat. He gave up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and struck out three
