Jammers Defeated By DiamondDawgs, 2-0

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Jamestown Jammers lost a close game, 2-0, to the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Saturday night. The Jammers fall to 14-5 on the season, but still uphold their first place status in the West Division.

It was a pitchers’ duel at Diethrick Park Saturday night, as the DiamondDawgs took the early lead and their pitching staff took care of the rest. The Dawgs scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd on 4 hits and that was all the offense that was needed. Clay Koniencki (Monmouth) led the Diamond Dawgs with 2 hits and 1 RBI to power the Diamond Dawgs to their 3rd straight victory (11-6 overall).

Jamestown starter Bradley Griggs (UTSA) had a solid outing as he went 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, but the Jammers offense was unable to get anything going. The DiamondDawgs starter Tyler Ksiazek (Monmouth) pitched an outstanding game as he shut down the Jammers throwing 6 innings, not allowing a run on 4 hits.

The DiamondDawgs’ bullpen was lights out as they only allowed 1 hit in 3 innings of work to close the door and secure the win.

The Jammers didn’t have a lot of opportunities as they totaled only 5 hits in the game, Skylar Valentine (UTSA) was the only player for the Jammers with a multi-hit game.

The Jammers are in action again tomorrow at Diethrick Park as they play the Elmira Pioneers at 3:05 p.m.
