Hawk named Player of the Week

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — Mohawk Valley DiamondDawg Colin Hawk has been named Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Week for the period that ended Wednesday.

A middle infielder from the University of Cincinnati, Hawk is the DiamondDawgs’ first weekly award-winner this season. Pitcher of the Week honors, also announced Thursday, went to Watertown Ram Mitch Sewald.

Hawk went 10-for-24 and scored five runs in seven games during the week and moved into the cleanup spot in the DiamondDawgs’ reconfigured batting order. Among his hits were a double and his second PGCBL home run.

Hawk entered Friday’s games hitting .328 for the season and ranked second among the DiamondDawgs with 21 runs batted in. His on-base percentage is .365 and he is slugging .453. He has scored 18 runs and stole seven bases in 11 attempts.
