Five Dawgs to represent Mohawk Valley at PGCBL Inaugural All Star Game:

The Dawgs currently sit a modest 8.5 games out of first place as they look to make a late season push for the playoffs. Wacker, who has started in all 25 games this season is currently hitting .326 with 12 RBI and 1 Home Run. He has highlighted his solid performance with timely hitting in late inning situations for the Dawgs this season, having been the man at the plate responsible for two Dawgs walk-off victories, most recently in a 11-10 victory over the Albany Dutchmen on July 9th. As a starter this year for the Dawgs, Selby Brummett goes into the All-star break with a 1-1 record, having started 5 games for Mohawk Valley. Brummett has struck out 22 in 24.2 innings pitched thus far, and has made a positive impact off the field, being named Burrows Paper Company’s Player of the Week for his community interaction. In his 7 appearances for the Dawgs this summer, Herkimer College’s Willie Gabay has showcased his mid 90’s fastball out of the bullpen as the Dawgs closer, recording a save in Albany and striking out 18 in 13 innings pitched. As of late, the Dawgs have called on the hard throwing righty to make the occasional start as Mohawk Valley takes aim at the playoffs. Gabay is 2-0 on the season for the Dawgs, and has held opposing hitters to a modest .200 average against him thus far. Freshman Pitcher Tyler Kane, whose talents were called upon more for the Washington Huskies than any other Pitcher this past spring as he led his team in appearances, has picked up where he left off this summer in the PGCBL. Kane, who couples an above average change-up with an electric fastball has struck out 13 batters in as many innings pitched. His microscopic 0.69 Earned Run Average in 8 appearances had secured him a role as the Dawgs’ setup man until recently, when he showed Head Coach Troy Gerlach that he could step into the rotation to take the mound from start to finish.
