ABOUT SPATOLA
A former walk-on who earned captain duties as a senior, Spatola went from a role player in 2009 to a power hitting every day starter last year. An NEIBA All-New England First Team selection, he started all 58 games and led the team with 61 RBI.

Entering the season he had five career homers, but he hammered 17 during the course of the year which is the third most in a single season at Boston College. His 22 career blasts rank ninth at The Heights.

Spatola was also second on the squad in slugging (.596), total bases (136) and steals (13) and was third in runs (47), hits (72) and triples (2). He batted .316 on the year with nine doubles and a .398 on-base percentage.

The Milton, Mass., product had some huge games this year and also delivered in clutch situations. Spatola smashed a pair of three-run homers and finished 3-for-4 with a career-high seven RBI against Missouri and also went 3-for-5 with two homers and six RBI against Dartmouth.

The biggest homer of his career came as a junior when he belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the ninth to beat Texas State in the first game of the Austin Regional. He also had another clutch three-run round-tripper with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game
