DOUBLEDAYS INCH CLOSER TO .500 WITH RAIN-SHORTENED WIN

LITTLE FALLS, NY – A sacrifice fly proved to be the only difference on Friday, as the Auburn Doubledays and the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs combined for four hits in the Doubledays 1-0 victory

The Doubledays started quickly, getting on the scoreboard thanks to a sacrifice fly by Dylan Mackenzie (Canandaigua, NY/SUNY Cortland). His hit to center field just four batters in was able to score Ryan Cesarini (Archbald, PA/Saint Joseph’s).

That one run would be the only run, as rain called the game in the top of the seventh.

Eddie Rives (/) got the win for Auburn (11-13). Troy Butler was saddled with the loss for Mohawk Valley (11-12).

Mohawk Valley will go on the road for the Fourth of July weekend, playing games against the Albany Dutchmen and Utica Blue Sox before two days off. They will be back at Veteran’s Memorial Park next Wednesday for a doubleheader with the Jamestown Tarp Skunks. The Doubledays will be back at Falcon Park on Saturday to try to avenge Thursday night’s loss to the Newark Pilots.
