Utica, N.Y. – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs beat the Utica Blue Sox 10-7 at Murnane Field, Wednesday, to even up the season series at two wins a-piece.
The win was also the Dawgs’ second straight, and snapped a two-game winning streak for the Blue Sox.
Utica got on the board first with an infield RBI single from Alex Cornell. Mohawk Valley responded immediately with a three-run top of the third, two of them coming off a home run to left field by Joseph Carpenter.
The Blue Sox got one back in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder’s choice, but Carson Coon came on in relief for the DiamondDawgs to strike out Tyler Simon and get out of a big bases loaded jam.
Mohawk Valley then put up a run in each the sixth and the seventh, before a four run bottom of the seventh gave Utica back the lead.
A three-run eighth then put the DiamondDawgs up for good.
The Dawgs improve to 16-10 with the win, the Blue Sox drop to 14-11 with the loss.
