GORHAM, Maine — The Little East Conference announced that University of Southern Maine freshman Sam Dexter has been named conference the Rookie of the Week.
Dexter, the Huskies’ shortstop continued his stellar rookie campaign as he hit .417 (10-for-24) with five doubles, his first two career home runs, and five RBI. Dexter, who compiled multiple hit games in three of his five appearances this past week, hit two solo home runs in a 5-1 win at Endicott College on Tuesday.
The freshman capped his outstanding week with a 4-for-5 performance including three doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored in the second game of the Huskies’ doubleheader against the Warriors. Dexter is batting .342 on the year and is tied for second on the team in doubles with seven.
