Dawgs Sign Standout Division 1 Outfielder from California!

The DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce the signing of junior OF BRONSON GRUBBS from Sacramento State University in California !

“Bronson is the type of player that we like to recruit as he is a older player that has proven he can play at the highest collegiate level”, said DiamondDawgs owner and president Travis Heiser. ” Since his freshman year he has started over 100 games while controlling the outfield as the everyday starting CF. We are looking for him to be a leader and are excited to see him in a DiamondDawgs uniform. He comes from a great college program in Sacramento State University in California where we have had many great players from in the past and we are confident he will be no different”.

“I’m excited to be apart of the DiamondDawg organization this summer”, said Grubbs. ” I have heard wonderful things about the the coaching staff, the town, and the fans from former players. I’m from California so it will be a great experience to be able to play baseball all the way across the country. Coming off an injury, my goals for this summer will be to get back to playing at peak performance and to continue learning as much as I can from the coaching staff and new teammates”.

SOPHOMORE (2016): Academic All-WAC (2x)…Started and played in 57 games in center field, missing one game due to injury…Hit .263 with 13 RBIs and 25 runs scored…Hit a team-best .339 through the first 39 games of the season…Had two doubles and a triple…Led the team averaging just 0.42 strikeouts per game…Led the team with eight sacrifice bunts…Ranked third on the team with nine stolen bases in 13 attempts…Had two stolen bases in two games…Hit 19-for-63 (.302) with two outs…Had 12 multi-hit games…Recorded first career three-hit game going 3-for-6 at UT Rio Grande Valley…Had a career-long tying 10-game hitting streak and had hits in 17 of 18 games March 26-April 23…Had a 13-game reached base streak…Hit 7-for-15 (.467) with two RBIs and two runs in series at UT Rio Grande Valley…Had two RBIs in a game at Grand Canyon…Had the most starts at one position (57 at center field) and most starts at one spot in the batting order (43 hitting ninth) among all Hornet players…Made numerous sensational catches in center field…Had 161 putouts and just one error for a .994 fielding percentage…Had two outfield assists.

FRESHMAN (2015): Academic All-WAC…Played in 51 games with 45 starts in center field…Hit .213 with 11 RBIs and 18 runs scored…Led the team and tied for fourth in the WAC with eight sacrifice bunts…Had a 10-game hitting streak through the end of the regular season and reached base in 13 straight games…Had six 2-hit games, including one against Northern Colorado in the WAC Tournament…Went 2-for-4 with a season-high two RBIs in his first collegiate game against Utah…Had two doubles…Drew 13 walks and was hit by a pitch four times…Was 9-for-13 in stolen base attempts…Hit .246 with eight runs scored in WAC play…Had an outfield assist at North Dakota…Totaled 119 putouts with just one error for a .992 fielding percentage.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years for head coach Rob Rinaldi at Pleasant Grove HS…Named an All-Delta River League second team selection as a junior and was honorable mention as a sophomore…Helped team win three Delta River League championships…Hit .306 in his junior season with 19 RBIs in 32 games…As a senior hit .275 with 11 RBIs and 32 runs scored…For his high school career totaled a .294 batting average and a .437 on-base percentage.
