Dawgs sign slick fielding infielder from Fairfield University

The DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce the signing of Michael Conti, a slick fielding infielder from Fairfield University for the 2016 season!

2015: Had a breakout sophomore season for the Stags, registering a career-high in every offensive category…Finished fourth on the team with a .273 average, 59 points higher than last season…Recorded an on base percentage of .361, the third best on the Stags…Had a career-high nine game hitting streak, hitting .400 (12-for-30) during that span…Nearly slugged as many hits during that nine game stretch than he had all of 2014 (15)…Knocked in a RBI in every game of the Saint Peter’s series…Drew a walk in five-straight road games, including each outing at Canisius…Had three different three-hit games: at UCF (3/15), at Hartford (3/25), and vs Sacred Heart (4/28)…Also scored the game-tying run against Hartford in the ninth inning.
Summer League: Played for the Riverhead Tomcats of the Hamptons League in Summer 2014.
2014: Appeared in 43 games, making 19 starts … Picked up 15 hits, scored eight runs, and drove in five … Went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored against NYIT … Went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored in series opener at St. Peter’s … Went 1-for-2 at St. John’s … Collected first collegiate hit at Delaware … Drove in first collegiate run at George Mason … Made collegiate debut at North Florida.

 

High School: Earned four varsity letters as a shortstop at Glastonbury High School … Three-time All-CCC North selection … HIt .330 and went errorless in the field as a senior captain … Named to the All-Academic Team all four year … Member of the National Honor Society as well as the Science National Honor Society.

 

Personal: Son of Joe and Janine Conti … Has two siblings … Volunteered at Precious Pup Rescue … Major is bioengineering.
