Dawgs Sign Infielder from Sacramento State for 2017!!

 

The DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce the signing of junior infielder Dan Deely from Sacramento State University!

“ We are very excited to have Dan for the summer 2017 “, said DiamondDawgs owner and president Travis Heiser. ” Dan is a big time infielder who is a true athlete. Dan has been an everyday player for one of the top division 1 programs in the baseball hotbed in California at Sacramento State. We are ecstatic that we were able to sign a high profile infielder like Dan”.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to spend the summer in New York”, said Deely.”It will be a fun to experience the east coast for an extended period of time. I look forward to winning many games this season and bringing another championship to the people of the Mohawk Valley”

SOPHOMORE (2016): Played in 52 games with 44 starts…Hit .226 with 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored…Had five doubles…Hit .274 in WAC play…Hit 11-for-40 (.275) with runners in scoring position and .288 with runners on base…Had six multi-hit games…Recorded three hits twice, at UT Rio Grande Valley and at New Mexico State…Was 3-for-7 with two RBIs in Sacramento State’s 15-inning win at UT Rio Grande Valley…Started 39 games at third base and five at second base…Was 6-for-11 in stolen base attempts…Had two steals in one game against Chicago State…Was third in on the team with four sacrifice bunts…Had 93 assists and 44 putouts…Pitched one inning at Arizona and allowed just one hit and no runs.

 

FRESHMAN (2015)Academic All-WAC…Played in 45 games with 41 starts…Hit .262 with 21 RBIs and 21 runs scored…Became the starter at third base over the second half of the season…Started 26 games at third base, 14 at second base, and one at designated hitter…Had one home run, at Utah Valley, and totaled nine doubles and one triple…Totaled eight multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games…Led the team hitting 15-of-44 (.341) with runners in scoring position…Went 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs in Sacramento State’s win over Utah Valley in the WAC Tournament…Drove in a career-high three runs going 3-for-5 at San Francisco…Had a .356 slugging percentage and .306 on-base percentage…Stole four bases in six attempts…Hit .279 with 11 RBIs and 11 runs in WAC play…Ranked third on the team with 101 assists.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years for head coach Don Lyons at Sonoma Valley HS…Two-time First Team All-Sonoma County League shortstop and named All-Empire in 2012-13…Was the starting shortstop for the 2011 team that won the Sonoma County League championship with a 23-6 overall record…Hit .394 with 37 hits as a junior…Hit a go-ahead RBI double in the quarterfinals of the league playoffs that ended up being the winning run…Played club for Trosky Baseball for one year…Also played football for four seasons and basketball for one year in high school…Made varsity basketball team as a freshman but decided to focus on baseball and football. 

 

PERSONAL: Parents are Tom Deely and Colleen McGrath…Majoring in government.
