Dawgs Outlast Blazers Win and 7-5

After three straight games lost to rain the Adirondack Trail Blazers and the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs finally got back to baseball Saturday at the Smith. What looked like a pitching duel on paper, this game would be decided by offense. The Blazers would get to Mohawk Valley’s Evan Davis with two runs in the 1st, but Mohawk Valley would bounce right back with two of their own in the 2nd. After the DiamondDawgs took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, Blazer Mark Williams(LaSalle) blasted a solo shot to right field to tie it all up at 3. Mohawk Valley would add 3 more in the top of the 5th to take a 6-3 lead when Zach Collet ripped a bases loaded double down the left field line to score all 3 baserunners. This lead would not last long as the Blazers got a two out bases loaded double from Justin Korenblatt(LaSalle) that would only score 2 as the third runner was thrown out at home to leave the game at 6-5. Mohawk Valley would add another run with a solo shot from Zach Collet who had a solid night at the plate going 2-3 with a 2B, HR, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. The Blazers got another great effort from Korenblatt with a 2-4 performance but could not do anything with the Mohawk Valley bullpen and would fall 7-5. Adirondack makes the trip down 12 to take on Utica Sunday Night with a 7:00 PM start.
