Little Falls, NY – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) have announced that Tyler Roper will be joining the coaching staff as an assistant coach alongside Head Coach Steve Luby and Assistant John Fureno.

Roper, from Boise, Idaho, will reunite with his former Treasure Valley Community College and current Mohawk Valley Diamonddawgs Head Coach Steve Luby for the 2022 PGCBL season.

Roper attended Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho where he helped win a state championship in 2013 as a catcher and infielder.

In 2018-19 Roper was a catcher for the Westmont College Warriors of the Golden State Athletic Conference in Santa Barbara, California where he was awarded a gold glove and was named All-Conference in both seasons.

Prior to Westmont, Roper played two years at Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) of the Northwest Athletic Conference as a catcher and first baseman. During his two years at TVCC he was named 2nd team All-Infield.

Following graduation, Roper returned to his alma mater Timberline as an assistant baseball coach leading the team to a 24-3 record and a state championship in the spring of 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 the team was off to a 3-0 start before the season was halted.

In the summer of 2021 Roper coached the Walla Walla Sweets of the West Coast League in Walla Walla, Washington to a 12-14 finish.

Roper currently resides in Dayton, Tennesee where he is pursuing a Masters Degree in Sports Management from Bryan College. He serves as a graduate assistant for the Bryan College Lion varsity baseball team while also serving as head coach of the junior varsity.

“I played for Coach Luby at Treasure Valley Community College and I am so fortunate to have this opportunity to coach alongside him here in Little Falls. Coach was a big part of my development as a player, so now I’m excited to learn from him on the other side. Super excited to bring my passion and will to learn to this great organization. These players are coming to sharpen their skills and will have a blast doing it. I can’t wait to get started! Go Dawgs!”

Mohawk Valley Diamonddawgs President and Owner Travis Heiser is excited to add Roper to the coaching staff, “adding Tyler Roper to our already talented and experienced coaching staff makes us that much better. Our players will have even more opportunities to learn and grow from coaches who have coached and played the game. Coach Roper brings experience both as a player and coach will add to our championship pedigree. We look forward to seeing him at Veterans Memorial Park this summer.”

The DiamondDawgs will kick-off their quest for another PGCBL title in June 2022 . The Mohawk Valley Diamonddawgs are excited to welcome back fans for another exciting season of baseball in the Mohawk Valley.
