Conference Rookie of Year Signs with Dawgs

 

Little Falls, New York – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are proud to announce that they have signed Tom Walraven from Pine Bush, New York for the 2015 season.  The 5 foot 8 inches 172 pound infielder is a sophomore at the University of New Haven where he was named Northeast-10 co-rookie of the year as well as received third team All-Northeast-10, Northeast-10 All Rookie Team and University of New Haven male rookie of the year honors.

In his first season with the Chargers Walraven batted .317 with 18 runs scored and 16 RBIs, walked 19 times and stole nine bases.  During a four-game stretch Walraven went 10-for-19 knocking in three doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored earning Northeast-10 Rookie of the week honors.

The business major was a graduate of Pine Bush High School and in his first semester in college was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Baseball runs in the family for the Walraven’s as dad played baseball at Manhattan, older brother played at Iona College and Hofstra University and both older sisters played softball at the University of Albany and Manhattan.
