Simone Named To Conference Carolinas All-League Squad

Mount Olive College senior outfielder Jason Simone (Mohawk Valley ’10) has been selected to the 2011 Conference Carolinas all-league team. Simone, who was one of nine Mount Olive players on the team, was named first team all-conference as an outfielder. In addition, Simone helped the nationally-ranked Trojans to the Conference Carolinas postseason tournament championship. He was named to the all-tournament team after Mount Olive clipped Limestone, 7-5, in the tournament championship game on Monday afternoon.
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central New York 1st Annual Tommy John/DiamondDawgs Golf Tournament
The first annual Tommy John/Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2011. The tournament will be played at the Mohawk Valley Country Club in Little Falls, NY.
This is your is your chance to golf with former Major League Baseball Great and DiamondDawgs Chairman Tommy John. John played in the major leagues for over 26 years, including stints with the Yankees, Dodgers, Angels and White Sox. He had three 20-win seasons, played in four World Series and was selected as an All-Star four times: 1968, 1978, 1979 and 1980. John went 4- 1 with a 2.08 ERA in seven League Championship Series starts and 2- 1 with a 2.67 ERA in six World Series appearances. He is the fifth winningest left handed pitcher in major league history.
A portion of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central New York. Tee Box sponsorships are available for $100 with all the proceeds going to Make-A -Wish Foundation® of Central New York.
Gerlach Returns to DiamondDawgs in 2011
The Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs would like announce that Troy Gerlach will return as Field Manager for the 2011 season. Troy led the Diamond Dawgs in 2010 to a 17-22 record just missing the playoffs by 2 games.

DiamondDawgs President and General Manager Travis Heiser has high expectations for this year’s team. “I am very excited about this year’s team, Coach Gerlach and I have really pounded the airwaves trying to get the best players we can to come play for the DiamondDawgs. We have a very talented group of guys coming to the Mohawk Valley that will compete for the league Championship this year.”

The schedule for the third Annual Mohawk Valley Baseball / DiamondDawgs Baseball Hall of Fame Dinner, which will take place Friday, January 21st at Knights Inn in Little Falls, has been announced. The dinner will feature former Mets great Ron Darling as keynote speaker.
