Carpenter Named PGCBL Player of the Week!

The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League is pleased to announce the selection of Mohawk Valley’s Joseph Carpenter (Delaware) as the PGCBL Player of the Week.

Mohawk Valley has claimed three of the four Player of the Week awards this season, as Carpenter joins Dylan Klock (St. Thomas Aquinas) and Nick Cimillo (Manhattan) on the Diamond Dawgs’ roster.

Carpenter had a monster week at the plate for the 14-10 Diamond Dawgs, hitting .500 (10-for-20) with 12 runs batted in. The infielder hit safely in each of Mohawk Valley’s seven games on the week, stretching his hit streak to 12 games. The Cornwall, Pennsylvania native drove in multiple runs in four of the seven games, which saw the Diamond Dawgs go 5-2. His top performance on the week saw him go 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs on Tuesday, when Mohawk Valley claimed a 12-1 victory over Geneva. He also drove in three runs each in victories over Adirondack (on Monday) and Utica (on Saturday).

The rising sophomore is coming off a stellar season at Delaware, where he was named the Rookie of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Assocation and a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American. In 54 games, the infielder hit .300 and drove in 37 runs, and added 19 extra-base hits, including five home runs.

The PGCBL is pleased to recognize the accomplishments of CarpenterĀ  over the last seven days. The league will continue to honor the best performances in the PGCBL throughout the summer with both nightly and weekly awards.
