FORMER COACH OF THE YEAR ADDED TO 2014 COACHING STAFF

Little Falls, NY – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs of the Perfect Game Collegiate League (PGCBL) are pleased to announce that Guido Aspeitia will join the Dawgs coaching staff as an assistant coach this summer.

A native of Fresno, California, Guido worked at the University of Cal State-Fullerton from 1991-2000. He was an assistant coach from 1991-96 and he helped coach the Titans to a Big West championship in 1991. As the Director of Baseball Operations from 1997-2000, Guido was part of a Regional and Super Regional champion in 1999, as well as Big West Champion in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000.

Aspeitia has had the opportunity to worked under some of the best collegiate head baseball coaches in the country. He has worked with the NCAA’s all-time winningest coach Augie Garrido, who currently is the head coach at the University of Texas as well current University of Oregon Head Coach George Horton.

Aspeitia also brings a wealth of summer collegiate coaching, as he was the Head Coach of the Northern Ohio Baseball Club in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate. While the head coach of in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League he led his teams to the league championships in 2000, 2001, and 2003. He was also named Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Coach Year 2002 and 2003.

“Guido is a tremendous addition to our staff,” team owner Travis Heiser Heiser said. “Anytime you can get someone who has major collegiate baseball experience it’s a plus. He will have instant credibility with the squad.”

Aspeitia stated, ” I am very excited to be a part of the DiamondDawgs. It is a first class orginzation and I am looking forward to working with the other coaches and the players to bring a championship to the Mohawk Valley”.

In 2008, Aspeitia led the Regina Red Sox to the Eastern Division Title in the Western Major Baseball League and a semi-final playoff appearance.

In 2009 Aspeitia was the head coach of the Wisconsin Woodchucks in the Northwoods League, taking over in 2009 with 21 games to play and leading the Chucks to a 16-5 record during that span.

In 2010 Aspeitia returned to the Wisconsin Woodchucks led them to a franchise record of 42 wins. Eventual Perfect Game national champion Eau Claire Express ended their season in the playoffs.

Aspeitia has a career .691 winning percentage as a summer collegiate head coach.

Guido has also created; executive produced, wrote, and hosted College Baseball Weekly for Fox College Sports.

He is single and has a daughter, Claire Anne Aspeitia (11)

The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs begin their 2014 season on June 5th with its fan favorite ‘Thirsty Thursday” promotion along with a Team schedule Magnet giveaway courtesy of the Little Falls Hospital.  On June 7th we will have a “HUGE” Post Game Fireworks show and t-Shirt giveaway to the first 1000 fans courtesy of the Fuccillo Autoplex of Nelliston!!!!
