DiamondDawgs Sign Outfielder Malcolm Kelsey

Little Falls, New York – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce that they have signed outfielder and first baseman Malcolm Kelsey from Piscataway, New Jersey.  The 6-1 205 pound Kelsey attended Rutgers Prep and is currently a sophomore on the Saint John’s Fisher Cardinals baseball team.

In his freshman season at Saint John Fisher, Kelsey started 39 games in the outfield and batted .304 and slugged .399.  Kelsey had an on-base percentage of .359 while compiling 25 runs, 42 hits and 8 RBIs and stole six bases in seven tries. For his work during the season Kelsey earned Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference honors.

Recently, Kelsey was named a Top 20 Atlantic League prospect for his stellar performance in summer league play becoming one of just two Division III players selected.  Kelsey played a key role in helping the Saint John Fisher Cardinals to a 31-win season and the ECAC Metro Championship.

Kelsey was a two sport athlete in high school playing four years of varsity baseball and two years of basketball.  In 2011 and 2012 he was a member of the Prep B championship baseball team and in 2011 and 2013 he was a member of the NJSIAA Non-public B State Championship basketball team.  In high school, Kelsey compiled a school-record 139 hits and 32 doubles and batted a career .446.
