DiamondDawgs Sign Local All-Star

Little Falls, New York – The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs are pleased to announce they have signed 2014 New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) All-Star pitcher Zach Vennaro to a contract for 2015.

Zach Vennaro from New Hartford, New York was a standout athlete at New York Mills High School both on the diamond and on the court. The 6’5 195 pound pitcher was named 1st Team All-State in baseball as well as 1st Team All-Tournament Team as he led his New York Mills Marauder’s to a State Basketball Championship in 2014.

Following a stellar high school baseball career where he dominated on the mound the hard throwing Vennaro laced it up for the Sherrill Silversmith’s of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) in the summer of 2014 earning top honors being named to the All-Star Team. During the summer, Vennaro started 7 games for the Silversmith’s, good for a 4-3 record and a 2.79 ERA. He logged one save and a shutout and 32 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched.

Vennaro, heavily recruited for his strong arm, has decided to play spring ball for junior college powerhouse Monroe County Community College in Rochester, New York. Following the completion of his season for the Tribunes he will head east to Vet’s Memorial Park for the summer and join a crop of talented DiamondDawg pitchers. DiamondDawgs owner Travis Heiser spoke highly of his new acquisition, “Zach brings a powerful arm that will light up the radar guns at Vet’s Park. We watched him closely while he pitched at New York Mills and quickly learned this kid was for real – he has been on our radar for a while – we are glad he will be wearing a DiamondDawgs jersey this summer.”

Please join the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs in welcoming Zach Vennaro to the Dawgs family!
