DiamondDawgs Rout Outlaws, 16-0

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Oneonta Outlaws were defeatedc16-0 by the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Friday night at Damaschke field.

The Outlaws were held to only one hit the entire game, as the DiamondDawgs’ starting pitcher, Jonathan McKinney (Southern Union State C.C.)  (2-1), threw an impressive complete game.

The DiamondDawgs jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the third inning, when they were able to string five hits together on sophomore starter Cal Lawrence (Binghamton) (1-1). The Outlaws would struggle to put anything together against McKinney, as the only hit in the game occurred in the fourth inning off the bat of Mike Brown (Dartmouth).

Mohawk Valley was led at the plate by Clay Koniencki (Monmouth), as the sophomore went 5-for-6 with four RBIs, and Austin Pollack (Hofstra), who was 4-for-6 with three RBIs. The DiamondDawgs faced four Outlaw pitchers and tally up a combined total of 22 hits.

Greg Satriale (Binghamton) came in after the starter and pitched 0.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits. Jason Wasilnak (St. John Fisher) relieved Satriale in the seventh and would go 1.2 innings without surrendering a run or hit. Mark Flynn (Columbia) made his pitching debut for the Outlaws, as the rising senior pitched one inning and would allow one run on three hits.

The final inning would not count, as the game was called for rain since the Outlaws could not bat in the bottom of the ninth.

The Outlaws will face the Utica Blue Sox at Damaschke field tomorrow at 7 pm.
